(a work in progress!) Each month, we highlight one of our team members on our "I AM Liberty Vet" board in our reception area. Please stop in to see who is being highlighted now and to read more about them! Reception Technicians Kennel
Brittany-Reception I have been working here at Liberty Veterinary Hospital since May 8, 2002. I started out working in the kennel taking care of the dogs and cats. It was a very fun and enjoyable experience for me. I have since moved up to the reception area. I still get to enjoy the animals that come in. Below are some of my family members:
Cassie (right), RVT~with her twin sister Kristen (RVT)
I have been employed at LVH since 11/03 My sister Kristin and I both graduated from tech school from the University of Cincinnati in 2004. Since we were little girls we have always loved animals, so it was only right that we went into the veterinary field. Between the both of us we have 5 dogs, 3 horses and 5 cats. We enjoy horseback riding and hanging out with friends and family
Kayla-Kennel I've been working at LVH since 7/06. I hope to become either a Veterinarian or a Registered Vet Tech. I have four cats and have had several dogs in the past. Working with animals is something I've always wanted to do, so working here is the perfect job!
Laureen-Reception I've been at LVH since 5/06. I consider this my dream joy -- I love animals. My family has had several guinea pigs, hamsters, a turtle and 6 dogs (not all at once!) Five of our dogs were rescues. I am partial to Siberian Huskies -- We've had four. I am an "empty nester" but have 3 dogs at home to fill the void.
Kathy-RVT I've been at LVH since 3/07. My favorite duty is being the Cat Adoption Coordinator. I am in charge of the cats we have for adoption here. You can find them in the adoption room in our lobby. These are usually stray cats that once belonged to some of our clients and are now in need of a loving home. We have had many great success stories with our adoption cats. I think it is a wonderful service to our clients. After all, we are all animal lovers! I really enjoy working at LVH. The staff is wonderful and the clients are great - both the four legged and human variety! It is nice to be somewhere that I can help provide high quality care. Haley-Kennel I have been working here at LVH since 7/06 helping out in both the kennel and the lab. I can't get enough of animals and love being able to work around them everyday. When I graduate in 2009, I want to attend Oklahoma State University or Findlay University and participate on the equestrian team. I want to be a large animal / agricultural veterinarian. At home I have quite a zoo of animals myself. I have two horses, Eb and Tiz (pony). Both are Tennessee Walking Horses. I also have two dos, Buck, a chocolate lab and Riley, a Jack Russell Terrier. We also have a rabbit, Gizmo. Everyone in my family loves animals almost as much as I do, from my horse show Mom to my dog obsessive Dad. Even my brother showed dogs. Working here at LVH has been an amazing experience and I hope that for years to come, you and your pet are able to use he great services and knowledge of our great technicians and vets
Lynn-Grooming / Receptionist I began at LVH in 5/06. Saying that I love my job is an understatement. I started this job as a receptionist, which I loved. I just wanted to interact with the pets more. So with the Doctors encouragement and well as the staff, I decided to learn how to groom. That has been the best thing I could have ever done. I always go home in a good mood!! I have a small kennel of my own at home. I belong to a yellow lab named Nala and a black lab named Kymba. There are also two feline friends Cheddar and Buttercup. Both of them were adopted from Liberty Vet Hospital. So I am owned by two beautiful cats that I enjoy very much. That is one part of the job that you are unaware of when you start. How much your heart will go out to the animals that need your help.
Niki - RVT I love the world of Veterinary technology. I have been fortunate enough to be a part of this field for over six years and cannot wait to see where it takes me in the future. I began working at LVH 3/07, but my journey started in Arizona where I became a Certified Veterinary Technician and I was able to be involved in interesting experiences. But I am very happy not to have to care for snake bite victims or animals that had been in contact with porcupines anymore! Even though Ohio does not have the same type of wildlife, every day at the hospital is new and different. I greatly enjoy educating people about animal health because I am a firm believer that an ounce of prevention is more valuable than a pound of treatment. My educational journey is not finished yet since I will graduate from the Veterinary Technology Program at Raymond Walters College in 2009. After graduation, I will be a Registered Veterinary Technology Technician in Ohio. I love to learn and have a life - long goal to learn something new every day. I also have a wonderful husband and 3 cants (Boo, Crash and Herbie) and a Bouvier named Wellington Rachel - Kennel I have been working as a kennel tech here at LVH for a little over a year (6/07). I have been working with animals in and out of my house since I can remember. I have three dogs, three cats, two rats and a bird currently residing at my humble abode. I myself only claim the bird (Tommy the female cockatiel) and one dog (BooFee the male Border Collie). I love playing with them and taking BooFee to fly-ball events and training him to become a hospital visitor at Children's Hospital. Barb - Reception I've been working at LVH since 1/06. I really enjoy my job and seeing all the pets. Presently I have 5 cats. I have had dogs in the past and I have had horses for 27 years.
Nick - Kennel Manager My name is Nick and I have been a part of the LVH team since November 2002. You can spot me in any part of the hospital, filling in and helping out, although I’m most commonly found in the kennel playing with and socializing the pets boarding with us. Aside from managing the kennel, I am also in charge of ordering pet food to be sold here. I really enjoy spending time with the people I work with and the animals I care for. I have a five year old border collie and a one year old cat that was rescued by the hospital and found his way into my home. If I’m not at the hospital, you might catch me on the University of Cincinnati campus or wherever there is good music and good people. Cathie - Reception Hello, my name is Cathie and I have been at Liberty Vet Hospital since 9/99 and have enjoyed every minute working here with all the great people and animals. I have 3 grown beautiful daughters who all share the my love of animals. Two are in college, one is married, and I have recently become a Grandma of twins! In my spare time, I enjoy quilting and working on Primitive crafts.
Andy - RVT My name is Andy. I have been a Registered Veterinary Technician since 2002. My career in veterinary medicine began 17 years ago. I have worked with Dr. Johnstone and Dr. Collins for many years, including before LVH opened. On LVH's first day, I was working here. Besides my duties as a RVT, I do most of the ordering of medications and supplies. A Boston Terrier / Boxer mix named Betty owns me. There are three cats and one other dog that I belong to, but currently do not share my home.
Rita - Administrative Assistant / Receptionist Hi, I’m Rita and I’ve been with Liberty since October 2000. I came here looking for a part time job and the opportunity to interact with a variety of pets I may not have been able to otherwise. I found instead a full time home away from home. My current position often keeps me away from the front desk and more behind the scenes. I love the creative opportunity to do our layouts, boards, monthly newsletters and keep our webpage updated. It is a position that I could not have dreamed up, but one that I am so grateful to have. Away from Liberty you will find me enjoying more creative activities such as crafting (love primitives!), gardening, gourmet cooking and contesting. My husband and 24 year old son are really only thrilled with the cooking part, though contest cooking has taken us all 3 on a few adventures! At this time of my life, I am without a pet, but fortunately not lacking from the affection of a pet. Working here has many benefits! Below are 2 of my favorite boys—our “house cats” who keep me company, entertain me and inspire me everyday.
Alicia - RVT My name is Alicia. I am a Registered Veterinary Technician here at Liberty Veterinary Hospital. I graduated from the Raymond Walters Veterinary Technology program in 2007. I have been working in the veterinary field for 8 years now. I started working for Liberty Veterinary Hospital in June 2007. I love my job. I have known since I was seven years old that I wanted to spend my life working with animals. There is nothing more rewarding to me than knowing I have had a hand in helping an animal in need. Liberty is a wonderful hospital. The doctor's are very intelligent and keep up with all of the new and innovative medical technology there is today. I feel honored to work with such a talented and caring staff. My husband and I share our house with our 6 four legged children. We have 2 dogs; Freckles - a terrier mix and Wrangler - a beagle / cattle dog mix. We also have 4 cats; Garfield, Clifford, Rupert and Tuff. It is a full house, but I wouldn't have it any other way!
Katie - RVT Hi my name is Katie and I am one of the techs here at Liberty. I graduated from UC / Raymond Walters Vet Tech program 2005 and I’m now at Ohio State University College of Veterinary medicine. I will be graduating vet school in 2010 and hope to continue helping animals for the rest of my life! Ever since I was little, I have always loved animals. I enjoy helping animals and their owners, one at a time. My plans are to continue working in the small animal field and possibly also doing some equine medicine. I currently have 2 dogs—Zoey and Honey and one cat—Geraldine. I enjoy horseback riding, going to car shows and learning new things. I have been at Liberty for four years now and I have learned a lot! I love my job and I hope to continue learning new things every day.
Liz - Veterinary Assistant / Receptionist / Kennel Assistant My name is Liz and I’ve worked at LVH since 2005. I am a Lab Assistant, Receptionist and Kennel Assistant! I enjoy my job, especially being able to spend my days surrounded with animals and always leaving work having learned something new about animal medicine. Currently, I am attending the Hondros College of Nursing to get my Nursing Degree where I hope to eventually work at Children’s Hospital. I have four pets: Carson, a Golden-chow mix; Landon and Snowy, DSH; and K9 Payton, a Black Lab. Payton and I are members of the Cincinnati Area K9 Search Team (C.A.S.T.) where he is in training to be a Cadaver Search Dog. I’m also a Cheerleading Coach for Lakota East High School. And when I’m not training, working or coaching I enjoy playing golf! If you want to know anything else feel free to ask!
Pam - receptionist My name is Pam. I am one of the newer members of the staff at Liberty Veterinary Hospital. I am an animal lover and advocate. I have owned and loved pets my entire life, including a sweet “house” chicken named Biddy who liked to take showers. My most recent addition is Oscar, an abused rescue kitten that had almost been frozen solid and was saved by Dr. Johnstone and the staff here at LVH. I am a graduate of the University of Cincinnati. I hold a bachelor degree in Fine Art and Art Education and I teach pottery lessons in my home studio, It’s Just Mud where I also create ceramic urns, pet grave markers and all types of fine art.
Our office will be closed on Thursdays from 1:00 to 3:00 for a weekly Staff Meeting. You may leave a message with our answering service during that time and we will return your call as soon as possible after the meeting.
